154 - The 2026 Elections
Letter from the Editor:
On Monday, September 21, we began 21 days of corporate fasting and prayer for President Trump, the Middle East, and the coming elections. If you haven’t yet joined the fast, consider starting now. We are expectant for what God will do as we consecrate ourselves and agree together in prayer concerning His prophetic purposes. Today’s Briefing presents multiple dreams that pull back the curtain on the invisible realm and instruct our intercession in this election season. Let’s be the Daniels of our day, setting our hearts to lay hold of God’s will for our land and our leaders.

The 2026 Elections
Taking Responsibility
In 2016, just before the presidential election, Chris Berglund dreamed of a woman who was strongly exhorting us, saying, “Release the P.O.W.s! Set the P.O.W.s free! Tell the intercessors to release the P.O.W.s!”
Chris recognized the woman in the dream as Joy Dawson. Yet, at the same time, she appeared to be Ruth Prince. He understood that the “prisoners of war” she was referring to were the blue states and swing states that were being held captive through deceptive ideologies that influenced how people voted (Colossians 2:8).
Chris knew we were all being instructed to take ownership of our states in prayer. He was also aware that not all of the states would turn red. However, he was shown that every prayer counted before the Lord and would be stored up as a prayer for righteousness.
There were some intercessors in the dream who said, “Because we’re a blue state, we’re not praying.” Then Chris heard a succession of words beginning with the letter A—words such as apathetic, abdicate, and abjurer. He also began thinking about how Lou is a prophet to “A-hab.” This came with the understanding that believers who relinquished their authority in prayer were functioning like Ahab, who abdicated his kingly authority to Jezebel (1 Kings 21).
The exhortation of this dream is as critical now as it was in 2016. The Holy Spirit continues to emphasize the need for nationwide engagement from the Body of Christ.
Prevailing Over the Python Spirit
Not long ago, a trusted intercessor shared with us her dream of a massive, deadly python associated with homosexuality and perversion. The snake was not yet full-grown, and she knew it needed to be destroyed before it had a chance to reach maturity. In the dream, she saw that each state would need to drive a stake into this monstrous serpent.
We understand the snake to represent a spiritual entity and its schemes. We are called to love people in the LGBTQ+ community while contending against the spiritual powers behind LGBTQ+ ideology. This requires participation in both prayer and the polls.
A Plumbline in the Spirit
The very same day we received the python dream, we were sent another dream from our friend Andrew Whalen. Andrew dreamed that we were telling him that prophetic dreams become a plumbline in the spirit realm when we pray into the prophetic revelation. He was shown that everything that did not align with the plumbline came under God’s judgment as He warred against that which did not conform to the purposes He had revealed.
Expanding Our Arsenal
In the last part of Andrew’s dream, he watched as Lou Engle collected weapons that had been recovered from battles across different states. Andrew said it seemed similar to David taking Goliath’s sword after he was slain. He then saw a list with pictures of these weapons—many from liberal states like Colorado, California, Illinois, and New York. Andrew knew the ekklesia had been victorious over certain demonic enemies and that their weapons would now become part of our arsenal.
This encouraging insight reminds us that, even when our prayers do not produce visible results, God is still at work through our intercession. Therefore, may we be strengthened in our resolve to pray and not give up.
Pray for Kings
In his first letter to Timothy, Paul specifically exhorted believers to pray for kings and all who are in authority. Throughout the electoral process in the coming weeks, the “all” encompasses the millions of voters who will be exercising their authority to select their elected representatives. In a very real sense, we all become kings for the day.
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” —1 Timothy 2:1–2
The Power of Repentance
One of the most powerful dimensions of supplication and intercession is identificational repentance. This is profoundly modeled for us by the prophet Daniel.
“O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land.” —Daniel 9:4–6
Daniel acknowledged the sins of his people and the leaders of Israel as if he himself had committed them. Though Daniel was personally faithful to God, he understood the reality of corporate guilt.
Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment
Fortunately, the power of identification works two ways. Daniel shared in the consequences of Israel’s corporate sin, but through repentance and intercession, he also appealed to God’s covenant mercy on behalf of the entire nation. This is the glory of intercession.
We know through God’s Word that Jesus Himself is the ultimate intercessor:
“He poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” —Isaiah 53:12
May we not shrink back from this holy calling, nor fail to recognize the guilt that is ours to own. Let us repent for disunity and apathy within the Church that have allowed the enemy to take ground in our regions. Let us confess the shedding of innocent blood in our states and the funding of out-of-state abortions. Surely, we have sinned.
Instead of merely pointing the finger at our education systems, let us stand in the gap before our righteous King, repenting where parental authority has been violated and children have been exposed to defilement. The sacrifice of Christ is more than sufficient to cleanse us from these offenses and more. Therefore, let us appeal to God for mercy!
At the same time, let us petition the Lord to expose corruption and evil throughout our government. May He deliver us from unjust legislation and leaders who promote wickedness. His arm is not too short to save. Pray for righteous candidates to be raised up as plumblines in our states.
What a privilege we have been given—not only to live in a republic where our voices count, but to be seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. May we fully embrace the responsibility He has entrusted to us as His sons and daughters.
“What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.” —Psalm 8:4–5
