The Red Thread

On April 20, 2020, my friend Chris Berglund had a dream of a red thread, like a scarlet ribbon, floating in the air. It was a text thread from me that read, “El, my Father, my God, El Elyon is about to breach the earth soon — the Great Communion Revival!”
El Elyon is the Most High God. It's the name Melchizedek used when he offered the first Communion of bread and wine to Abraham. We know that Jesus is the greater Melchizedek. He is raising up a priesthood from the children of Abraham to carry His body and blood.
We believe the thread floating in the air represents the scarlet thread of redemption that runs through history, all the way to the cross, and beyond. In the dream, it was a prophetic word that El Elyon is about to breach the earth. “Breach” is a military term. It depicts a breaking open of the way — where God comes rushing in. We believe He is coming, not just with revival, but with the power of the blood that carries deliverance, healing, and cleansing to a generation.
Chris had an earlier dream in 2004. He saw a mystic woman standing on the sands of time. She opened an ancient treasure chest, from which incense-like words began to rise. The words said, “Lou Engle now has the gift of faith for the Great Communion Blood Revival.” We didn’t understand it then, but after carrying the dream for over twenty years, we believe we’re stepping into the moment for which that word was given.
REVIVAL IS HERE
Throughout revival history, the blood has led the way. The First Great Awakening began in a Communion service with the Moravians in Germany. The Second Great Awakening started at the Red River Meeting House in Kentucky, during what was called the Scottish Communion Season. For four days, people gathered at the table of the Lord, and a great move of the Holy Spirit was birthed.
The red thread has continued. In 2009, I had a dream in which I asked Bill Johnson, “Where can you catch fish along the Sacramento River?” Bill answered, “You can catch fish where the river turns red.” I ran along the river and saw that where the river turned red there were fishermen catching fish all along its banks.
This is a harvest dream. The red river is the river of blood — the river of the sacrament. I believe we’re moving into a season of revival that will release one of the greatest harvests in America’s history. It’s all connected to the revelation of Communion and the power of the blood
There have been many confirmations. During a fast in 2022, while praying for the Great Communion Revival, we received a news article reporting that the Catholic Church had just launched a three-year Eucharistic Revival. The article told of young people being healed just by looking at the host.
Could it be that, as Protestants, we’ve lost some of the awe and reverence the Catholics have had for Communion? What if we’ve treated it too casually — just crackers and grape juice once a month — and we’ve missed the Lamb at the center of the throne? God is restoring and reviving our understanding of His covenant meal.
THE POWER OF COMMUNION
A few years ago, I read Beni Johnson’s book The Power of Communion and was deeply impacted. Beni was taking Communion three times a day and going to high places like Mount Shasta. She and her team would apply the blood through Communion, and the altars of witchcraft were rendered ineffective. People were taking Communion for their families and seeing deliverance and healing. Moved by these testimonies, I began to realize how I had devalued the explosive power of the sacrament.
Recently, I heard a story of a couple whose four-year-old son had cancer for the second time. They did everything they could. Finally, they took Communion for 40 days straight, pleading the blood of Jesus over their son. At the end of the 40 days, he was completely healed! Later, they found out the little boy had been sneaking into the cupboard and also taking Communion each day. The doctor was amazed when his examination showed no cancer cells or any evidence the boy had ever had cancer.
Not long ago, I felt led by the Holy Spirit to watch footage of nuclear bomb explosions. As I watched, the Lord spoke to my heart, saying, “You think these are powerful? When I went to the cross and shed My blood, I broke principalities and powers. I shook the earth. I defeated death, hell, and the grave. You haven't even begun to understand the power of Communion.”
Something is shifting in our mindsets. Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of Me.” But we are realizing that Communion is not just a memorial — it’s actually a reenactment of the most powerful interchange in history!
Back in 2004, we launched a “Silent Siege” in front of the Supreme Court with red LIFE tape over our mouths. We always ended our time of prayer by taking Communion and pleading the blood of Jesus that speaks a better word than the blood of 60 million aborted babies. For 18 years, five days a week, intercessors fasted and prayed, crying out: “Jesus, I plead Your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America.” Millions have now prayed this prayer. When Roe fell, it was because the blood judged the death gods of America. Do you see it? The red tape has become a continuation of the scarlet thread.
One young woman contacted us to share how she lost her red LIFE band in a Walmart parking lot in Mankato, Minnesota. A year later, she was waitressing when she saw another woman wearing the same band. She asked her about it, and the woman said, “I found it in the Walmart parking lot about a year ago. I was going to get an abortion the next day, but when I saw the word LIFE on the band, I knew it was a sign to keep my baby — and here she is!” Her beautiful child was beside her in her baby carrier.
THE THREAD CONTINUES
God is weaving this thread through our history. When we were planning our Day of Atonement gathering in D.C. for A Million Women, we couldn’t get the permit for the National Mall on that day. A prophetic leader declared to us, “We must not change the date. The Day of Atonement is the day a nation receives either mercy or judgment.” We made plans to proceed without the permit and were trusting God to open the way. A few months before the gathering, the group who held the permit resigned, and we were granted access to the Mall.
At 6:00 p.m. on the night of the gathering, we took Communion and cried out for mercy — not based on our righteousness, but on the blood. Afterward, an African American leader contacted me. He didn’t know about our gathering, but he told me, “At 6:00 p.m. last night, I told my wife, something just shifted in America. Trump will be elected, and our country will have another chance.” The blood has the final word. On the Day of Atonement, we believe America received a verdict of mercy.
FROM COAST TO COAST
We’ve just come from Communion gatherings in Redding, San Francisco, San Diego, and Burbank, declaring “Behold the Lamb of God.” On Passover, we held our final Communion service in Los Angeles. The blood has been saturating California. In hindsight, we see heaven’s wisdom in bringing us from our nation’s governmental gate on the Day of Atonement all the way to the gates of culture by Passover. In each location, a table was set for us in the presence of our enemies. From the rising of the sun in the East to its setting in the West, the name of the Lord has been praised!
My pastor, Che Ahn, had a dream on the morning of Passover in which we were singing “America the Beautiful.” We had sung this anthem in Washington, D.C., but he didn’t know we were planning to sing it that night in Los Angeles. As instructed in another dream, we changed the word grace to blood. So, the song rang out from sea to shining sea: “America, America, God shed His blood on thee!” Che was stunned by the fulfillment of the dream. The blood of Jesus is judging the gods. Just as He judged the gods of Egypt, His blood is judging the gods of California! When the blood is applied, principalities fall.
Years ago, Cindy Jacobs gave a prophetic word that California would be a pro-life state. We knew the only way this could happen is if the Hispanics rose up en masse and took down abortion. I believe we are coming into the fullness of time for the Hispanic voice to rise in California for the sake of revival and reformation.
Sometime after Cindy Jacobs’ prophecy, my friend Matt Lockett, who runs the prayer ministry Bound4Life, had a dream of a Hispanic man calling for him to “Come to California.” In 2012, we began a movement of prayer and fasting called California Estada Provida (“California is pro-life”). I believe the masses are awakening to the sanctity of life and the blood of the Sacrament, which is more powerful than the false ideologies perpetrated by the government in Sacramento.
IT’S TIME TO UNITE!
As the red thread continues to unfold, we are calling the intercessors of California to unite in praying Bound4Life’s 22-word prayer that broke Roe. Other states can substitute their names in the following prayer: Jesus, I plead Your blood over my sins and the sins of my state. God, end abortion and send revival to California.
Starting on Shavuot — the Jewish holiday of Pentecost, beginning the eve of June 1st — believers across the country are preparing to take back the month of June and rename it Life Month. Citizens for Life will be hosting Life Marches in Texas and across all 50 states.
From now to Pentecost, let’s unite in prayer for a global outpouring of God’s Spirit. May the voice of many waters uncap the wells of Azusa Street, the Hebrides Revival, and other past moves of God. Let’s continue to intercede for President Trump to be baptized with the power of the Holy Spirit and for an anointing to rest upon our government to fulfill the purposes of heaven.
Then, from June 1 through June 21, I urge you to join me and many others in a focused stand of intercession. Clothed in the righteousness of Christ, we will make a daily declaration of the victory of the blood of Jesus over the powers of Molech and the powers of California. All the while, join me in declaring this victorious truth that Derek Prince proclaimed daily: “We have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb from the hand of the enemy!”
Finally, on June 21, I invite you to attend a strategic, day-long gathering in Downey, California, where a new breed of revivalists and godly activists will pray, proclaim, and take Communion over California. Led by Seth Gruber, a rising and powerful voice for life, The Last Stand could be a hinge-of-history moment to turn California back to God.
The blood will never lose its power!
