THE BRIEFING 006 - THE POWER OF MATTHEW 17
When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and he is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” ...And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once… this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:14-21
Years ago, Lou was mobilizing Hispanics to TheCall in the Rose Bowl. Afterward, a young Hispanic man came up to him and said, “I had never heard of TheCall until today, but the name of my ministry is also The Call. I received it from a dream.” He went on to share how in the dream, he saw young people falling into the fires and into the waters; the fires of witchcraft, sexual immorality and dark perversions, and the waters of suicide and drug overdose. He was so overwhelmed with the darkness, that he tried to pull himself out of the dream. But then, he heard a mighty voice say, “The answer to this darkness shall be found in Matthew 17.” The young man awoke from this dream and immediately fell back to sleep. He then dreamed the same dream again with the resounding words, “The answer to this darkness shall be found in Matthew 17.” Once again he woke, went back to sleep, and dreamed the same dream again! This time, upon awakening, he looked up Matthew 17, not knowing what the passage was about. There he saw this scripture of the father crying out to Jesus for his son who was falling into the fire and the water. This dream catalyzed his ministry named The Call to prayer and fasting to deliver a generation!
Today, all through Ohio, thousands of young people are overdosing on heroine and dying. It has reached epidemic proportions. Many others are harassed, helpless, and sick. It has become a challenge to the Body of Christ; “Your disciples could not cast it out.” The strongman is manifesting himself before the gaze of the whole nation, boasting of his unstoppable march of death. According to Jesus’ words, this kind cannot come out but by prayer and fasting.
Many in Ohio have been in a 17-day fast from July 5th to the evening of July 21st in preparation for Azusa Now Cleveland. We are praying in accordance with Matthew 17 to:
Break the power of the strongman of addiction
Loose a mighty faith for a deliverance anointing
Send forth workers into this harvest field to free the captives
We invite you to add the strength of your prayers and fasting in these final days leading up to the gathering this weekend. In the 2017th year of our Lord, the 17th year of TheCall, in the 17th state of the Union, let Matthew 17 be unleashed to comfort the heart of heaven that weeps over the lost and broken.
